Book description

Daniel is an accomplished freelance photojournalist who’s traveled the world. When a serious car accident sidelines him, he suffers from physical as well as mental anguish in addition to menacing nightmares. After enduring the torture inflicted upon him for six months, he wakes up one morning unexpectedly refreshed. Tossing out the sleeping pills he’d been using since the unfortunate accident, which claimed the life of his beautiful colleague, he resolves to put his life back in order.

He soon experiences incredibly lucid dreams, but these dreams are different. Instead of them just being recurrent, they’re a continuation of the same dream. He’s landed in an exotic Greek destination called Atheenaton and the locale keeps beckoning him to return. The sights, sounds, and inhabitants he encounters in this dream world captivate him making it difficult to return to his waking reality in North London. It’s a world just as real as his waking one, but much more pleasant. Even though everything appears perfect, he’s cautioned not to ask too many questions or dig too deeply into why he’s there.

Daniel’s Dream by Peter Michael Rosenberg is an atmospheric journey through one man’s attempt to cope with his demons. It examines how severe emotional and or physical pain can spur someone to invent a perfect, safe place to work out one’s problems. There were moments while reading it that I felt drawn into the novel and Daniel’s perfect utopia.
